DoSomething Scholarships ("It Pays to Do Good")

DoSomething.org

Scholarships earned by completing volunteer, social-change, or civic-action campaigns — no essay, GPA, or recommendations required, making them highly accessible to younger students.

Who should apply

Young people ages 13–25 who want to earn scholarships by taking civic/volunteer action — with no essays, GPA minimums, or recommendation letters required.

Eligibility

  • Ages 13–25
  • Live in the U.S. or be a U.S. citizen living abroad

What you get

  • Scholarship awards (often sweepstakes-style); individual campaigns have offered up to $1,500
  • Funds sent directly to your school for post-secondary costs

What the application involves

  • Sign up for a scholarship-eligible action/campaign on the DoSomething platform
  • Complete all action steps and submit a 'reportback' documenting your impact
  • No essays, GPA requirements, recommendations, or traditional applications
  • You can enter multiple scholarship campaigns

Application tips

  • Enter multiple campaigns — each eligible action is a separate entry with no limit.
  • Submit a clear, well-documented reportback showing real-world impact.
  • Plan to use any award before age 25, as funds are forfeited after that.

Good to know

DoSomething reports distributing over $1.7M in scholarships over the past 10 years to 700+ winners. Awards must be used by age 25. Campaign amounts and availability vary over time.
