Doodle for Google
An annual art contest for K–12 students to design a Google homepage doodle on a yearly theme — low-barrier, requiring artwork and a short written statement, with no academic or test requirements.
Who should apply
U.S. K–12 students who enjoy art and want to create an original Google-logo doodle around the annual theme — a low-barrier option open to all high school grades.
Eligibility
- U.S. students in grades K–12
- U.S. citizen or permanent U.S. legal resident at the time of entry
- Enrolled in a U.S.-based school or homeschool, or a school in Puerto Rico, U.S. territories, or DC
- Only one entry per student (only the first doodle submitted counts)
What you get
- National Winner: a $55,000 college scholarship plus a $50,000 technology package for their school
- Each Finalist: a $10,000 college scholarship, artwork featured on Google.com, plus Google technology and merchandise
What the application involves
- An original doodle incorporating the letters 'G-o-o-g-l-e' (any materials)
- A completed entry form, submitted online (PNG or JPG) or by mail
- A written description / artist statement explaining how the doodle expresses the theme
- Judged on artistic merit, creativity, and theme communication
Application tips
- Tie your artwork tightly to the year's theme and explain the connection in your statement.
- Submit early and only once — only the first doodle per student counts.
- Use the official entry form and accepted file formats (PNG or JPG).
